Resolving conflicts
When you copy or move files into a folder that already has files or folders with the same names, Wander doesn't ask about each one in turn. It shows one window for the whole operation before it touches a single file, and you resolve all the name conflicts there at once.
Each pair takes a row: on the left, what's being copied; on the right, what's already there; each with a thumbnail, size and date. The larger file and the newer file are shown in bold. Wander checks byte by byte whether files are identical, and if they are, says so: “Files are identical”.
A check mark on a side means that side stays:
| Checked | What happens |
|---|---|
| Left | Replace: what's already there goes to the Recycle Bin |
| Right | Keep as is; when moving, the file stays where it was |
| Both | Keep both: the copy gets the name “name (1)”, and folders merge |
Merging folders. If both check marks are set on a pair of folders, the conflicts inside them appear below, and you resolve each one separately. If only the left one is checked, the folder is replaced entirely.
Quick answers.
- “Replace all” and “Skip all” at the top right resolve the whole list at once and close the window.
- Below the list, you pick an answer for the pairs not yet resolved: replace, keep existing, keep both, or replace if newer.
- The “Don't ask about identical files” checkbox is selected by default; its initial state is set in “Settings” → “File operations”.
Compare. The button next to a pair's name opens both files side by side: texts with shared scrolling, images side by side or overlaid (
Space switches); the loupe shows the same spot on both.
The “OK” button becomes available once all pairs are resolved; Esc cancels the whole operation, and at that point nothing has been done yet.
Mistakes aren't a problem: replaced files are in the Recycle Bin, and Ctrl+Z brings everything back.
