Command line

You can start Wander with switches, from a shortcut, a terminal or a script:

Wander.exe [--folder <folder>] [--portable | --data-dir <folder>]
Switch What it does
--folder <folder> Start in this folder instead of the last or working folder. If the folder doesn't exist, Wander starts as if without the switch
--portable Keep settings, logs and the thumbnail cache in the data folder next to Wander.exe
--data-dir <folder> Keep them in the specified folder; this switch takes precedence over --portable

Put a path with spaces in quotes; a switch can also be written with an equals sign: --folder="D:\My photos". A relative path is resolved from the current folder.

The environment variable WANDER_DATA_DIR works like --data-dir for every launch without switches. If more than one is set, the first in this list wins: --data-dir, --portable, WANDER_DATA_DIR; if none is set, data is stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Wander.

Multiple windows. Each launch opens a separate window. Windows that share a data folder save settings in turn, and the last save wins; to keep the windows from getting in each other's way, give the second one its own --data-dir.

Examples. Open Wander in the terminal's current folder (PowerShell):

& "C:\Apps\Wander\Wander.exe" --folder .

USB stick: put a Wander.cmd file next to Wander.exe, and it will start Wander with its settings on the same stick:

@start "" "%~dp0Wander.exe" --portable

Separate settings and bookmarks for work: a shortcut with this target:

"C:\Apps\Wander\Wander.exe" --data-dir "D:\Work\wander" --folder "D:\Work"
